StemRad
The space vest core technology was developed at Aran for StemRad – for a project funded and co-sponsored by NASA and Lockheed Martin. The physical and physiological requirements developed by StemRad’ scientists for blocking radiation have been translated by Aran’s engineering and industrial designers into a wearable, ergonomic, functional, and manufacturable structure. As part of the design process, Aran has developed a unique and innovative technology of structure and arrangement of radiation blocking elements that enables the astronaut flexibility in the operation required at the space vehicle or station. Textile development and design was in collaboration with Delta that have developed a flexible fabric to support the required flexibility and by Tiko Design together with Nomadity, Tiko’s soft material arm.
