The ZSmile is a class II medical device features a control unit that delivers pulsating air to a micro balloon within the smart aligner, gently moving teeth into their final positions in a pain-free manner and in half the time of traditional treatments. Developed over the past decade, the first generation of ZSmile has been cleared by the FDA and CE-marked in Europe since 2019, successfully treating hundreds of patients.
Lee Haddad, CEO of Dror Ortho-Design, explains, “Two years ago, we embarked on enhancing our platform with AI and IoT technology to enable remote monitoring and treatment of patients through a smartphone app. We also aimed to redesign the pump mechanism in our control unit for near-silent smile correction during sleep. This was a challenging task, as we needed to make numerous improvements while adhering to FDA and CE regulatory guidelines.”
